The National Faculty Education Initiative (NFEI) provides online training on the differences between Certified CME and Promotional Activities, as well as a searchable database of medical education faculty who have completed the program.

This program goes over the faculty's roles and responsibilities in certified CME and FDA regulated promotional activities and their differences.

This program was developed by Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education and the Alliance in Collaboration with the AAMC and endorsed by AHME, ANCC and ACPE.

We have made great strides in our effort to Go Green.  We have implemented a few changes that have decreased the use of paper and electricity.

Efforts:
No longer taking or printing 40 page CVs for every speaker.
No longer sending letters and memos to coordinators or committee members, all communication is either by phone or email.
All forms are now online with the option to complete and email to our office, reducing paper use.

On a smaller scale:
All computers and electrical equipment are turned off or put in hibernation mode while we are out of the office.
Recycle most paper products, cutting and using as scrap paper.
Recycle notebooks and other office equipment, such as going to the Surplus equipment give away, rather than continuing buying new equipment.
During meetings, instead of printing everything, put many documents online for attendees review.

SUGGESTIONS:
When printing a powerpoint presentation, print with 6 slides to a page and print on both the front and back of the paper.

When printing a powerpoint presentation, do not print the background of the slides, especially if the slides are a dark color. Omit the background saving a lot of ink/toner.

A great way for USA CME to save on paper and ink would be to have all evaluations conducted online.
